Compulsive Eating

In addition to working with couples, Victor offers an approach for compulsive eaters which goes beyond the traditional approach of diet programs. He helps participants to address the deeper issues that have prevented them from being successful in their past efforts.

Breaking Free from Compulsive Eating

This ongoing support group will help participants explore in depth the reasons for compulsive eating and at the same time offer new techniques for freeing oneself of this problem. Self awareness, exercise, self love and self care will be taught with a focus on establishing new patterns of behavior which will not only affect one’s relationships with food but with all the people in one’s life.

In addition members will receive a daily e-mail with the latest research on healthy eating and exercise and food tips and motivational quotes. Members will also have the option to participate in a daily thread as a way of staying connected with each other during the time the group does not meet.

This group will be led by Victor J. Goldman LCSW, a clinical social worker with 36 years of experience working in the Port Jefferson area specializing in helping couples. In addition to his clinical practice, he is the co-founder of the Community Alliance of Northern Brookhaven Inc. (a group dedicated to promoting awareness of drug and alcohol abuse), and with his wife, Carolyn Schwartz PhD, teaches ballroom dancing to couples in the area.
